Lytro LightField Photography: Hanlin Goh talks about independent Data Processing

Lytro LightField Photography: Hanlin Goh talks about independent Data Processing The concept and details of LightField Photography can be a bit overwhelming when you first come into contact with the topic. If you’ve ever wondered how the Lytro LightField Camera works in detail, and what is possible with LightField Photography in general, we recommend reading through the LightField Notes of computer vision researcher Hanlin Goh.

Goh first gives a Technical Introduction, followed by an explanation of the Lytro’s Raw LightField image.

In his second Note on the topic, Perfect Focus, the author talks about depth and focus features – namely software refocus, focus stacking a.k.a. all in focus and selective focus a.k.a. tilt-shift exposures – and part three explores the third dimension (parallax/perspective, 3D images and 3D scene rendering).

Also included are a couple of very interesting online demos, which we will talk about in more detail in a future article.
