CNET: Interview with Ren Ng, demo of 3D and perspective features

Ren Ng, the founder of Lytro, recently gave an interview to CNET’s Brian Cooley. Ren briefly explains the concept of the LightField, presents one of the microlense arrays used in the Lytro camera, and then shows some of his favourite LightField pictures.
More interestingly, though, he also gives a demonstration of the 3D capabilities of Lytro’s LightField Pictures: He shows the as-of-yet unreleased perspective shift feature (changing the viewpoint) as well as stereo image viewing.

In the end of the interview, Ren Ng also hints at what comes after the first generation camera: “This technology can affect everything with a lense in front of a sensor, from mobile phones through to high-end cameras.”
