Lytro with Fisheye Converter
on: 2014/05/31 05:00

Hi,

I secured a cheap Agfaphoto 0.21x fisheye converter to my Lytro with a section of bicycle inner tube. I decided to remove the macro lens attached to the fisheye converter, because the Lytro is able to focus with macro.

Please see below the photo of the Lytro with fisheye converter:

Basically the fisheye converter is terrible, because of the strong CA at the edges and corners, and the very non flat focal plane. But Lytro is able to refocus and you can focus on the edge. Perspective shift also brings everything in focus. The edges are still heavily distorted.

At 1x~1.2x on the Lytro gives a circular fisheye. At 2x (actually should be 2.2x), it gives full frame fisheye. I shot them in 2x because on the camera LCD there was no vignetting. But when I loaded into the Lytro Desktop I got vignetting. SO It will work better with 2.2x or so.

Please also see my other post about attaching wide angle lens.

Thanks,
James
