Converters for future ?

OK, so the Lytro image info is stored in 'raw' form. So, in the future we should be able to convert, like you can now (jpg to png, gif etc.) ? Thinking in terms of Pelican's, Toshiba's, etc. setups. With Pelican's info being from micro-cameras will this matter? (admittedly, I am totally ignorant on all this stuff).

since all the information is retained in the raw file, it will be possible to (1) add new software features as they are developed (e.g. the recent 3D upgrade) and (2) open and view/edit the files with other software, such as a future version of photoshop or others, as soon as they add compatibility.
the variety of light field cameras will likely increase very soon, so i believe there will eventually be a general tool that automatically identifies the subimages (raster size), or at least use camera profiles (just like today's import feature for different raw files).

i don't believe that there's a real necessity for converting a lytro file to one in pelican's format. rather, we should hope for one new (or existing?) file standard that is supported on all platforms.
