Refocus your raw lytro data on linux
on: 2013/03/09 07:17

I wrote a short program to process the raw data the lfpsplitter extracts from the .lfp file (not the -stk.lfp). It lets you generate individual images focused at different depths. The pictures aren't quite as good as what you get out of the Mac software, but still fun if you want to play with refocusing images. The source is here: http://binslett.org/Lytro/refocus.tar.gz

Once you can process the raw data, with a little more work you can insert information at various focus levels.
Here I have inserted focus level labels into a standard lytro picture.

So here are the programs I used to create the above referenced image:
http://www.binslett.org/Lytro/insert_focus1.0.tar.gz
insert_focus inserts an image at a focus level. Doesn't do clipping so if your insert overlaps something focused at a closer level it will look wrong (working on it)
http://www.binslett.org/Lytro/lfpinsert1.0.tar.gz
lfpinsert lets you reinsert a modified .raw data file into a .lfp image file.

hello, Mr bina, I was impressed by your fantastic work on data. I may have some questions on the code, I am wondering whether I can have your email address so I can have a better understanding? Again, I appreciate what your have done, it's great!~~

Hi, I am unable to compile the lfpinsert.c with gcc-MinGW. There come a couple of compile errors. Why?

dear ebina1, how did you get the params in this function hex_subapimages(final_img, width, height, 15, 17.21, 3, 9.93)? I use your function to generate the refocus image, but the results is too bad. But I don't know how to set the params. Please help!!!

Notes on compiling on Debian testing:

  • Install the libnetpbm10-dev package
  • Edit focusimage.c to refer to pam.h instead of netpbm/pam.h

Nevermind, doesn't compile on Debian.

Ok, got it to compile. Changes are on github: https://github.com/astronouth7303/refocus

EDIT: When given a raw file direct from the camera (as downloaded by Lyli), the produced image is garbage.
