Creating files from 3d rendering package
on: 2015/11/05 11:07

My business is architectural visualisation (www.blinkimage.com). I'm interested to know if I can render out my 3D scenes in such a way that they can be used by Lytro and the focus can be interactively changed by the user. It is easy for me to render out a black and white depth map.

How can I import this file along with the rgb 'image' file into the Lytro software?

Perhaps there is something else I need to do too...

Hi blinkimage,
this is just off the top of my head, but I'd try something like this:

  • export a random light field image as an editable image stack for processing in photoshop.
  • replace the depth layers with different renderings of your scenes (i.e. shifted focus between individual images)
  • replace the depth map with your own
  • re-import the image stack and depth map into lytro desktop
